Few weeks ago I came across these beautiful orchids at a major home improvement store a little dehydrated & sad so I had to bring them home. These are my 1st ever orchids, thus far in my “Troll in Central Park” journey I’ve only cared for succulents & cacti so this is definitely a more delicate test of my green thumb but I am committed to seeing them thrive!

Phalaenopsis Aphrodite, commonly known as Moon Orchids, Moth Orchids or in Spanish Mariposa Orchids. One of my favorite flowers, they have so many color patterns & are so pretty. The blue/purple color is not natural to these flowers, she’s artificially dyed but still so stunning! Orchids require a lot of indirect sunlight & pots where their roots can air dry between watering baths which average every 7-10 days. They are annually flowering, the entire flower head falling off when it’s reached the end of it’s life cycle.
Orchids were also my Mother’s favorite flower, she had a magically charged green thumb & took great pride in not only her orchids but all of her plants. I hope some day to have my own jungle greenhouse overflowing with beautiful flowers, medicinal plants & all of the tropical fruit trees I miss from home, until then I’ll try to be the best garden troll I can in my little apartment.
