Reading this book reminded me so much of that movie with the gossiping blonde beauty who ropes her unknowing new bubbly friend into her mysterious secret plot to start a new life haha, anyway lets review.

The Perfect Stranger by Megan Miranda

The Perfect Stranger takes place in small town rural Pennsylvania, told to us from our main character Leah Stevens pov. After it’s discovered that Leah broke a very important rule of the job her journalism career at a prominent Boston newspaper is over, her reputation in question & her future in jeopardy.
Leah runs into an old acquaintance at a local bar, just when her life was in this downward spiral & she needed a fresh start. Emmy Grey is newly out of a troubled relationship & also looking to leave those troubles behind & start new, convincing Leah to come with her to small town rural Pennsylvania & take on a teaching job at the local school. However what seemed like a good idea to Leah at first quickly turns into a nightmare.
After a woman is attacked at the local lake & Emmy goes missing, Leah begins to question if she even knew her at all. While talking to the young charming cop investigating Emmy’s disappearance Leah comes to the realization that despite knowing intimate day to day details about Emmy, like the sound of her footsteps against the hardwood floor, she didn’t know any of the big details. Unable to answer many of officer Kyle Donovans questions about Emmy, Leah decides to put her journalism skills to use in trying to uncover who Emmy Grey really is.
I was hooked, had to keep turning pages, I just had to know how it was going to come together in the end. Emmy was a ghost, she permeated every part of the story despite not being present, Leah was consumed in her awe of the idea of Emmy Grey. Uncovering the truth of who her friend & roommate is means uncovering what happened to the woman attacked at the lake & how it all connects to her.
