I could not put this book down once I started reading! I was so engrossed in the pages I didn’t even realize I was going to finish the book in a day until I was nearly half way through & came to the realization I hadn’t eaten yet. Taking a peek at the time I realized my morning coffee & reading session had turned into a reading marathon & it had been about 3hrs since I’d come up for air. Now half-way through the book with a rumbling stomach & empty coffee mug, I said “oh this is good” & made a super quick breakfast, so as to not waste too much time, because I needed to get back to reading.

There are a few characters vital to the story but the main focus are ‘Mary Ellen’, Andrew & his girlfriend Lola. The story unfolding for us from multiple povs. When Lola goes missing suspicion immediately falls on Andrew. Not only was he the last person she was seen with, they’d also had a fight & falling out the very same night she was last seen. While the town & police eye him for her disappearance Andrew knows he didn’t hurt his girlfriend & is desperate to find her. Not only to clear his name, but also because he has a horrible feeling in his gut that she’s not okay. He immediately suspects that something terrible has happened & that Lola is in extreme danger if not found quickly!

While Andrew is desperately searching for Lola, we’re also seeing the story from ‘Mary Ellens’ eyes. Having woken up bruised & bloody on the side of the road, with no recollection of how she came to be in that condition, nor location, she is rescued by a police officer who spotted her while on patrol. Back at the police station she is unable to provide much of any information to officer Bowman, she doesn’t know where she’d been before coming to on the side of the road & she doesn’t even remember her own name. However, not long after their arrival at the station a man shows up, alarmed & desperate, claiming his daughter is missing. Says his name is Wayne, & that the disoriented, battered girl at the station with officer Bowman is his daughter. Showing family photos & documents as proof. Officer Bowman isn’t entirely convinced & ‘Mary Ellen’ has a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach.

Wayne is a monster.

The twist at the end of this book was gut-wrenching. The list of names, the realization… So much guilt, so much sorrow.

As always happy reading & thank you for joining me for another review.

Hasta la próxima – V
